With more people moving to Maricopa County than any other county in the U.S. in 2017, here’s a look at some of the hottest ZIP codes in the Valley …

What’s Hot
According to real estate website Zillow, the median home value in Metro Phoenix is $249,300 as of February 2018. That’s a 7.6 percent increase over the prior 12 months. According to Zillow, here are the Valley cities that saw the greatest home value appreciation in 2017:

  1. Buckeye – 10.2%
  2. El Mirage – 10.1%
  3. Sun City West – 10.1%
  4. Sun City – 9.7%
  5. Phoenix – 9.4%

What’s Not So Hot
Here are the Valley cities with the largest percentage of homes underwater – meaning homeowners owe more than what the home is worth. However, these numbers don’t look so bad compared to 2011 when nearly 50 percent of Valley homeowners had negative equity.

  1. Maricopa – 14.6%
  2. Casa Grande – 14.1%
  3. Avondale – 12.7%
  4. Goodyear – 12.0%
