Here are some of those resources available for you at Arizona Federal Credit Union:

Student Loans

Arizona Federal Credit Union has been a student loan lender in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) since 1985 and helps members and their families achieve their dreams of higher education with a variety of student loans. Due to recent regulatory changes, many lenders have stopped providing student loans. However, Arizona Federal continues to offer a suite of student loan products to help students and families meet the challenges of paying for school.

Federal Stafford Loan

  • Subsidized
  • Unsubsidized

Undergraduate or graduate students attending school at least half time

6.0% fixed rate for subsidized undergraduate borrowers

6.8% fixed rate for other Stafford borrowers

  • No payments during in school and 6 month grace period
  • No application fee
  • No credit check required
  • No prepayment penalty
  • Easy online application
  • Life of loan servicing
  • Complete FAFSA and have information sent to your school(s)
  • Select Arizona Federal Credit Union (Lender Code 830168) as your lender if you are certified for a Stafford student loan

Federal Parent PLUS Loan

Parents of dependent students attending school at least half time

8.5% fixed rate

  • More cost effective than most private loans
  • Borrow up to the full cost of education
  • No application fee
  • No prepayment penalty
  • Even though a credit check is required, there are NO income requirements and NO credit is considered good credit
  • Payments begin within 45 to 60 days after final disbursement

    As of 7/1/2008, new option to defer payments is available

  • Complete FAFSA and have information sent to your school(s)
  • Select Arizona Federal Credit Union (Lender Code 830168) as your lender if you are certified for a Parent PLUS student loan

Federal Grad PLUS Loan

Graduate students attending school at least half time

8.5% fixed rate

  • No payments during in school and 6 month grace period
  • More cost effective than most private loans (e.g. HELOC)
  • Borrow up to the full cost of education
  • No application fee
  • No prepayment penalty
  • Even though a credit check is required, there are NO income requirements and NO credit is considered good credit
  • Complete FAFSA and have information sent to your school(s)
  • Select Arizona Federal Credit Union (Lender Code 830168) as your lender if you are certified for a Grad PLUS student loan

Federal Consolidation Loan

Borrowers with federal loans which are in grace or repayment status

Fixed interest rate for life of the loan. The rate is calculated as the weighted average of the interest rate of loans being consolidated rounded up to the nearest 1/8th of 1%.

  • May lower monthly payment amount by as much as 45%
  • Repayment terms up to 30 years (depending on principal balance)
  • No credit check required
  • No prepayment penalties
  • No application fees
  • Make just ONE payment to ONE lender per month
