Arizona Federal is proud of the commitment so many of our members have made to improving their communities by volunteering their time. To help make that commitment even more effective, we offer the Community Partners volunteer grant program. Through Community Partners, Arizona Federal makes financial contributions to nonprofit organizations to supplement the volunteer efforts of our members.

How it works

To qualify for a Community Partners grant, a member must volunteer at least 25 hours to a single organization during a calendar year. Volunteer work may consist of anything done without compensation, from reading to a child, or painting the home of an elderly citizen, to keeping the books at a social service agency.

Once the volunteer commitment is fulfilled, the member and organization may complete the application section of this brochure and mail it to Arizona Federal. If the organization qualifies, it will then receive a $50 check from the credit union.

Eligible organizations

To receive a Community Partners grant an organization must:

  • Be recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a charitable organization under Section 501 (c)(3).
  • Operate in Arizona.
  • Provide services in education, arts and culture, human services, civic and community development, or health.
  • Professional associations, fraternal and veterans' organizations, political campaigns and committees, and organization of a strictly religious nature are excluded, as are organizations whose administrative expenses exceed 25% of their operating budget.

Program restrictions

  • Only members and joint owners of Arizona Federal are eligible to participate (no more than two persons per account).
  • Each member participating in Community Partners may qualify for one grant per calendar year.
  • No organization may receive more than $750 in Community Partners grants per calendar year.
  • Grants from Community Partners may not represent more than 5% of an organization's annual operating budget.
  • Applications must be submitted by March 1st of the year following the volunteer work to qualify.
  • All grant applications are subject to approval by the Community Partners Grants Committee.
